We also used to play Aztec Sacrifice, but I blame National Geographic for that.

That is just disturbing on so many levels.

Merrick, did you put your bathrobe on backwards and a towel on your head? We used to play Catholic School and for that you had to have a nun.
Lol no...but I suppose we never played Catholic School as we went to one every day.

G, ours started off as Mother Mary and ended up Sister when they went into the shorter uniforms. I think I liked the long ones best lol. I'll always remember them driving a tiny car of some sort...maybe a Fiat. Four nuns laughing like crazy, squashed into a tiny car and driving like crazy people lol

That's it! You wanted to get away with driving like a crazy person!

Have never practiced Catholicism to the best of my knowledge. My mother had been raised Catholic, but I was raised a Methodist & every once in a while my father would tease/raze my mother about her Idolatrous upbringing.

Your knees would let you know for sure. If they're ok, you're not Catholic. If your knees are shot, you're Catholic *.

Never saw the appeal of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes either.

Which takes us back to the religious explanation.

Not necessarily. You can damage your knees playing certain kinds of sports like basketball or football (soccer).

Ugh, kneeling! I have a slight twist in each femur and can't kneel to save my soul. (Joke intended.) I used to sit back on my heels on the kneelers, Japanese style. Irritated my grandmother no end, but my mother-in-law told me that she was never good at kneeling, either. As I've said, Carolyn is very pious and if she says God doesn't mind whether you kneel, then that's good enough for me.

A friend of mine ruined her knees riding race horses, too. I guess there are lots of ways to do it.

Oh, Z,how lovely! It looks so appropriate to have it set with palm trees all around!

I'm grinning to see the Shrine of Bab. Here it is pronounced "Bob," and as Bob is such a common name, it's hard not to grin when people talk so seriously about The Bob.

Here is the Chicago temple: https://depaulinterfaith.files.wordp...hai-aerial.jpg

The interior is quite plain, but the fretted stone work is so beautiful, that you don't miss the sort of ornaments and statues you'd have in a church or Jewish temple. The dome produces wonderful acoustics. And, like the Haifa one, there are gardens surrounding the building. The Baha'is don't have a lot of temples, they mostly meet in people's homes, so I guess when they do build a temple, they do it up right!

Sorry. I know people get so involved in sports that they don't realize the damage they do to themselves, and I know folks take pride in their injuries, like gymnasts' calloused hands or ballerinas' horrible feet (no, do NOT look that up: no child should ever be allowed to go en pointe!), but I agree. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

You can't kick your toenails off. You can have them removed however. I have none anymore. I am grateful for no more in-grown toenails.

Originally Catholic and dad would cuff me backside of the head if I put my butt on the edge of the seat when kneeling...though he would. Also alterboy and lectern (read the epistles at mass). To add to that, boyscout.

Now you know why I am so twisted.
