Which is to say, people who are romantically obsessed with another person and who become bona fide dangerous, first to people who are perceived to be standing in the way of a romance between the target and the stalker and then when the romance never materializes, to the target him/herself. The distinction between plain erotomania and de Clerambault Syndrome is that the stalker believes that the target is sending private messages to the stalker.

Exactly the people John and some of you all have described. Remind me never to become famous.
I think we actually had one of those potentially dangerous types posting on the APFC message board years ago. She went by the name Maggie-M and she lived in Australia, and she's the one who said AP was causing the power failures in the subdivision she lived in and it would happen every time she watched The Breed, something like that? Verryyyy weird! She seemed totally obsessed and rambled on a lot about how she felt about him, but at the same time, she seemed in denial about her feelings, as if she wanted to dislike him but couldn't. That sounds like a stalker kind of mentality if ever there was one! It was a long time ago, before the Sydney con so that would have been late 2004 early 2005. She went to the con in Sydney actually saying that she wanted to see if Adrian was the man he appeared to be and came back spewing alot of venom for Adrian Paul, saying he was horrible, egotistical etc. and singing the praises of Peter of course! I forget all the rest of it but it was very nasty! She said she wasn't impressed and that was it for her. She had apparently given him something she wrote and I heard that it was pornographic and he took one look at it and his reaction was so negative that she got highly insulted! DUH! What would she expect?? Oh, wow, she was a real whacko! They do have to deal with these kind of fans from time to time and Adrian appears to have had his fair share for an actor who isn't actually that well known!

Was Last year in Paris at the Con
Meets there the whole Highlander crew
They are all nice and normal people
Elizabeth was great, a wonderful person Jim ,
Peter and Adrian also very common, no airs and graces, ordinary simple people
What really disappointed me were the people behind it like Victoria and Carmel, very unfriendly and rude
Did not speak to the most of us When I wanted to give Victoria a hand, she had no time for me !! My mam and dad learn me that , raise me properly and taught me that I had to imagine people
If someone too long talking with Jim .Adrian ,peter and Lizzie she came and push you away
Not everyone will agree, but treated them as property
I heard more of this and to on other meetings
It was not cheap Adrian to meet
Yes we had chairs in front of them with the meeting and intervieuws ,that was correct ,pay to for that !
Was there with my husband who was only there for me and make pictures He could see everything that happend there , and he saw enough ! Do not think that Adrian likes it when he knows this all ,He was oke !
People tould me later that only fans they give much mony on the peacefund , were kindly treats, hoping they will give more money i suppose !
If I give money does not everyone want to know, make me that better? No ! When I want to give i do that when i like it to do Plenty of charities around the world Will certainly be people who do not agree with me, I have never said anything about it, but why not, it's the truth, and that gave a shadow over the meeting with the Highlander !!
Was nice to meet my hero Duncan!
But for me does not like this
Was very nice to meet some friends from here who I know and FB, have wonderful memories of this and do not forget this nice things
Maby Carmel read this but wy not is the truth
If I ever met Adrian again I would also say that this is not good, how they interact with people
Waah that was what i have to say ! Hate me for it ore understand it .I know more people think the same about it
Hope i write it all good in my bad english !

I still like Adrian ,most from the Higlander
But as human he is a nice guy !

I remember you telling me about your experience in Paris pukkie and it's a really a shame that they have to treat the fans this way. I wonder why Adrian and the others don't step in and tell them to lighten up a bit if they appear to be pushing fans away like that? I remember in Vancouver they were also rushing us through the photo sessions but at the time I just wrote it off to a timing thing and that they wanted to stick to a tight schedule. It might have just been that they didn't want anyone to have any chance to talk to Adrian. After all, we paid a lot of money for that chance! As far as being rude to you, there is simply no excuse or reason for that!

I understand Pukkie. Sadly there are more and more people who had the same experience. I really believe it has lost Adrian and Highlander a lot of fans over the years. Non of the Cons are cheap and our money is as good as anyone elses so why shouldn't we all have the same rights and treatment.

I think that was why the experience in London was so different. No Highlander team in control. It was just Adrian. He was allowed to laugh with the fans, he took his time with everyone who paid for a photo and a signature. He even joked with everyone. I know Maris was upset he didnt seem to know what APUK was but when we think about it it was Carmel that told Maris weeks before the Con that Adrian knew who we were. I sometimes wonder if Carmel just didn't tell him at all and it wasn't Adrian's fault after all.

Hey ~MJ~! How you doing?

The absence of the Highlander team was probably the reason he was more laid back in London for sure. There was no one putting a barrier between him and the fans. I suppose you could argue that there needs to be someone keeping an eye on fans to make sure that there isn't any danger to AP but if that's an issue, he would have an actual bodyguard hired to stand there and not expect Carmel to physically tackle someone LOL Although I'll bet she would do it!

There was always someone sitting with him in London but it was an event person not Highlander people and yes he was more laid back.

Lol I'm sure she would.

Ohhhhhh... that's calling up a memory Merrick. Wasn't maggie the one who handed AP something really inappropriate and he just turned, handed the page to security and walked away from her? His security stepped in between him and her so she couldn't follow him. And then she came over here boiling mad and told us all about it?

Coolwater, that's the same incident that I'm talking about in post #41. I couldn't recall for sure if she was posting here on APUK or not. I thought it was on the AP.net forum and I remember being shocked at the things she was saying there about him on his own board! Maybe she posted here too. That's the way I heard it, he took one look at it when she handed it to him and then just gave her a disgusted look and turned and walked away.

Ah! Yep, she posted here, too, and I think it was you who filled in the rest of the story after she'd gone. Would that it were always so easy to get rid of an unpleasant fan.

Cool

I seem to recall this woman posting here for a while when I first started coming around until that incident. Always found her a bit odd.
