With VG's thread about the new Dan Brown I though this might be nice. We all read and it's nice to share and give others ideas.
As you know I'm hooked on the vampire type books so I love Laurell K Hamilton and Sherrilyn Kenyon. I just got Patricia Briggs new offering, Hunting Ground, second in the series Alpha and Omega. She writes well and the books have good story lines. I got hooked on her Mercy Thompson books to start with and this is a spin off series about the werewolf pack. It's good so far. |

I am currently reading Bruce Lee's "Striking Thoughts: Wisdom for Daily Living"...I can't seem to get enough. He touches on almost every topic...He definitely was decades ahead of his time...

![]() Uhm-hmm...research into a particular 'school' of samplers from Ipswich England, taught by Judah Hayle (c1648-1705) and her daughter Rebecca. Actually , very good reading because this is the first UK 'school' where a particular teacher is identified on the sampler itself, and the samplers are wonderful!

I just finished:"The Scarlett Pimpernel" and had a lot of fun imagining Sir Percy looking like Adrian!!
![]() Before that I read the biography of Gertrude Bell-a very fascinating woman !! Everybody remembers Laurence of Arabia, but nobody seems to know Gertrude Bell who was the real brilliant brain behind it all and the creator of modern Iraque!!She was a close friend of King Faisal and highly respected by the Arabian Princes. |

I LOVE the Scarlet Pimpernel! Sink me, if I don't! Was it someone here who said that there were sequels? I never got around to looking them up.
I'm not sure anyone really wants to take credit for creating any of the mess in the Middle East! ![]()

There are a lot of sequels to the Pimpernel,I ordered some from Amazon, but they are on their way still. So I ´ll let you know if they are worth reading....
I think Gertrude didn´t have a mess in mind when she draw the frontier lines of Iraque. She always wanted to avoid any mess. Most of the mess was -as ususal-made by the men, esp. by wonderful(?) Mr.Lawrence of Arabia!! There is a very good article on wikipedia about her. I must admit the German version is much better and more detailed although the original books about her and from her are in English. She was known to be the best translater of persian poetry ever! And she did archeological research all on her own when this was highly unusual for women. |

I am looking at " Dreamsongs". ( That was read - in parts, anyway- by Adrian Paul. ) That is what I am reading. I am interested in Fantasy, I discovered very recently( about myself). I mean I used to be only interested in Science Fiction. I went to the bookstore, and found other books by this author, Mr. George R.R. Martin. But currently, I am interested to read the " Dreamsongs" book ( and listen to the audio-book. I love audio-books, as my eyes are poor these days. )
